Current Classroom Guidance Topics

Classroom guidance lessons are a large part of the Elementary Guidance program. Lessons are delivered by myself in order to develop a theme! Many include activities, discussions, games and/or books. Please talk to your children about what they have learned recently during guidance lessons!

Fourth and Second grade classes were up first, starting the week of September 14. Fourth grade students' unit was on the topic of respecting others. Second grade classes unit was focused on courage and bravery.

Kindergarten and Third grade classroom lessons began on October 12. Kindergartners learned about the uniqueness of themselves and began exploring feelings! The unit for Third Grade students focused on Positive Thinking and Personal Assets.

First grade class lessons began the week of November 16. The first topic will be about friendships and the uniqueness of themselves. A fourth grade unity on anti-bullying and peer pressure also begins that week.

Second and Third Grade lessons began in early January. Third graders will be discussing the 'ups and downs' of Friendships, including solving conflicts. Second graders will be learning about cooperation and communication!

Small Group Counseling

All new students have been invited to join me in my office for a Welcome Lunch Bunch! Most groups were able to fit a game of get-to-know you Jenga in as well! Welcome again to all the new families!

Other student groups including Guys Group and Girls Group began in November. Additional sessions began in early January. If you believe your student could benefit from participation in a small group, please let me know. Other group topics will be added as necessary. Groups are meant to be developmental and preventative in nature. Students can learn a lot from each other!
